Positive Quote: “The key to successful leadership today is influence, not authority.” —Kenneth Blanchard
Have you ever been in a meeting and sat back to watch the dynamics around you? How, when that one person speaks people lean in to listen? Or when someone else speaks you see the crossing of arms?
That first person is a leader; people listen and value their opinion. They may not even be in a management role.
So what is about some people that make them leaders? Are they born with it? Does it come naturally?
I don’t think it does. I believe these people become leaders for various reasons, maybe they are experts in their fields, maybe they have shown that they follow through, care, and value people…. For whatever reason they are leaders and managers should value that versus compete with it.
It all boils down to influence. Authority will only get you short term results.
What do you think?
Have a terrific Tuesday.
