“Only through art can we get outside ourselves and know another’s view of the universe.” – Marcel Proust

Positive Quote: “Only through art can we get outside ourselves and know another’s view of the universe.” – Marcel Proust

I love art, my favorite style is the heavy, deep, brushstrokes where you can see that paint from afar. I can’t really pinpoint what style I like, since I like some modern, classical, and much of everything. Yet, I do know what I like and what draws me. I love to sit and just look at a painting and wonder, does it represent a real place, are those real people, is it from an artist’s imagination, and so on.

Art can take many forms; painting, pottery, glassworks, woodworks, pencils, fabric, you name it and someone can make art of any substance. Finding that piece that speaks to you and moves you to see outside yourself, now that is a special piece.

For me, taking that step back and taking the time to look at something that came from the minds of others is amazing.

Have a tremendous Tuesday and here’s to looking outside ourselves and appreciating art in all its forms.

“Try to learn something about everything and everything about something.” – Thomas Henry Huxley

Positive Quote: “Try to learn something about everything and everything about something.” – Thomas Henry Huxley

This quote reminds me that I don’t have to be an expert on everything, yet I should have something that I am passionate about to learn and be really good at.

I am passionate about many things. I love to cook, I love to read, I love to try new things, I love write poetry, and I love being around people who help me grow and be a better me. Regretfully, I don’t always have enough time to do the things I love…. Yet when I do, I am happiest. I am at peace and content with the world.
Thinking about this quote, it helps push me to do more of what I love, more consistently.

“It is a fine thing to have ability, but the ability to discover ability in others is the true test of leadership.” – Elbert Hubbard

Positive Quote: “It is a fine thing to have ability, but the ability to discover ability in others is the true test of leadership.” – Elbert Hubbard

I love this quote; it reminds me that everyone has abilities, yet to be discovered by others. You have to take the time to get to know people to understand what their abilities are.

What abilities in others have you discovered today?

Have a fabulous Friday.

“The task of leadership is not to put greatness in to people but to elicit it, for the greatness is there already.” – John Buchan

Positive Quote: “The task of leadership is not to put greatness in to people but to elicit it, for the greatness is there already.” – John Buchan

I like this quote because it reminds me that everyone is great at something. However, it takes time and effort as a leader to get to know people to understand the areas of greatness.

“Leadership is action, not position.” – Donald H McGannon

Positive Quote: “Leadership is action, not position.” – Donald H McGannon

I have known too many people who become leaders solely for the title, position, or money. I never quite understood that.

To me, being a leader is a chance to help others, to help people grow, to grow yourself, and to make a difference in the lives of others. I don’t want to be one of those bosses who gets talked about as a bad boss or even worse as ineffective. My personal goal is to be a better me, to grow more and be better this year than the year before.

Positive Quote: “Exercise your nice muscles. Every day for the next week, do five nice things that have no immediate payoff for you. “– Linda Kaplan Thaler and Robin Koval – The Power if Nice

Positive Quote: “Exercise your nice muscles. Every day for the next week, do five nice things that have no immediate payoff for you. “– Linda Kaplan Thaler and Robin Koval – The Power if Nice

I am in the middle of reading the book “The Power of Nice” and the above message resonated with me; exercising your nice muscles. It reminds me that things don’t come naturally. You have to exercise your memory, your body, your pets, and yes, your nice muscles. Without exercise, it does not become a habit.

Most would say that being nice is not something to be exercised. Yet, I would disagree. Being nice is a show of respect, not just for others but for you. Being nice can be a smile, a thank you, a please, or many other things.

I think I will consciously take the challenge and strive to exercise my nice muscles today, tomorrow, and each day.
