Positive Quote: “If your foot slips, you may recover your balance, but if your tongue slips, you cannot recall your words.” – Martin Vanbee
This quote reminds me that we all make mistakes, we go down a path we wish we could turn right back around and come back the way we came, or we say something that we want to take back as soon as it passes through our lips. Yet, it also reminds me that there are so many things in life we cannot take back, there is no undo button, no do over, no rewind.
Too many things can go wrong if we rush into things, if the adrenaline is pumping, or if we think we have our balance, yet we don’t. Taking the time, from a few seconds to a few minutes, to recalculate and look for ways to have this task, this project, this interaction be better for the balance and care…that is what I strive for. If I feel myself getting angry or upset, before I say or do something I will later regret, I take a deep breath, pause, and then work to be calm.
From a work perspective, this could be when a project meeting is going south and the project is in the red. Instead of going into chaos, looking to locate a solution, a plan towards getting things back on track. Hopefully, no one goes into a project or task purposefully trying to fail or fall behind.
Today seems to be a day for reflection for me.

Have a great Friday and let’s all strive for balance.
