“They cherish each other’s hopes. They are kind to each other’s dreams.” – Henry David Thoreau

Positive Quote: “They cherish each other’s hopes. They are kind to each other’s dreams.” – Henry David Thoreau

Cherish and kindness, those two words jumped out to me in this quote. Both words describe activeness versus passiveness.

If someone shares their hopes, goals, dreams, and aspirations with me that is something to be treated with care. It is too easy to disregard, ignore, or not give as much attention to this. When that happens it can lead to the person’s disengagement and perhaps even devaluation in themselves and their ability to achieve what they were hoping to.

To be kind, that to me means to listen attentively, ask clarifying questions, seek to understand, and encourage. Perhaps even to provide support and guidance. It can also mean to help by challenging (kindly) by helping determine with them if they know how to go from Point A to Point B or even what pitfalls to look out for.

What do you think of this quote?

Have a marvelous Friday.
