How do you listen to the silence?

Positive Quote: “Too much noise can cloud your senses. Stopping to listen to the silence can help you gain perspective on what is really important.” – Lynn Schmidt

Noise doesn’t have to be loud or even come from many sources at once. To me, noise is when you don’t have the silence to digest, process, and think through or about something.

I am an introvert by nature, this means that to recharge my batteries, I need silence and alone time. However, I balance this with being able to interact and engage with others in an extroverted manner. I frequently approach people I don’t know at conferences to meet new people.

To me, life is a balance. There is the need for interaction and the sharing of ideas with diverse people…how else can you get the best ideas? Yet, there is also the need to stop and listen to the silence. Without this, I would not be able to process and gain insight into things.

Stopping to listen to the silence doesn’t have to be extreme, it could be taking 5 minutes before a meeting to gather your thoughts or 5 minutes after a meeting to ensure you jotted down some notes and takeaways.
